Politicians are regarded generally as pretty slippery when it comes to answering questions. There is that great suggestion that if we drill into school kids that they must ‘answer the question’ – why can’t our Politicians do the same!
Last week there was a bit of a storm in a teacup as Radio 4 ‘s Today presenter Evan Davis ‘quizzed’ the Chancellor about his Autumn Statement. George Osborne was verbally battered as he announced the austerity measures will be extended to 2018 and his own debt-reduction targets are likely to be missed.
Davis is quite aggressive and apparently Downing Street are a bit unhappy about his treatment. No one can accuse the BBC of bias – it was fairly full-on? And,as another saying goes, if you can’t stand the heat..get out of the kitchen.
Apparently Davis now acknowledges that he “wasted” 5 minutes on the topic. I thought it was great knockabout stuff. I did wonder how ED would perform as an APC Assessor……..
Yes I think that is the best type of questioning – prepares candidates for the real world! (Only Joking RICS disciplinary board web site checkers!)
